Helper extension privacy
Last updated 28 October 2026
The Diecast-o-meter Helper is a free Chrome/Edge extension. It exists because eBay doesn’t offer sold prices to apps: when you start a price check in Diecast-o-meter, the Helper opens eBay’s sold-items search in your own browser, reads the results and hands them back to the app.
What it reads
Only the eBay search results page it opened for a price check you started. From that page it takes, for each listing: title, price, shipping cost, sale date, format (auction or fixed price), number of bids, condition, the listing link and the image link. Then it closes that tab.
What it never does
- It doesn’t read any other pages, your browsing history, cookies, passwords or eBay account details.
- It never buys, bids, watches, messages or posts anything on eBay.
- It doesn’t run in the background on its own, track you, or contain analytics or ads.
- It doesn’t load or run code from the internet; everything it runs ships inside the extension.
Where the data goes
The listings go only to the Diecast-o-meter tab (app.diecastometer.com) that asked for them. You then choose which ones match your car; the ones you approve are saved to your account as described in our Privacy Policy. Nothing is sent anywhere else, and nothing is sold or shared.
Permissions it asks for
- Access to ebay.com, ebay.co.uk and ebay.de — to open and read the sold-items search for your price check.
- Scripting — to read that one results page.
- Runs on app.diecastometer.com — so the app can ask it for a search and receive the results.
Limited use
The use of information received from the extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements: it is used only to provide the price-check feature you asked for.
